Rotate PDF Pages
Rotate selected PDF pages by 90°, 180° or 270° without changing the source file. Apply rotation to all pages or a chosen range and download a new PDF.

Correcting Sideways and Upside-Down PDF Pages
Scanned PDFs often contain pages saved sideways or upside down. This tool changes the page rotation in the PDF so compatible viewers display the selected pages in the intended orientation. It is useful for scan cleanup, mixed-orientation documents and print preparation.
When Page Rotation Is the Right Fix
- Correct sideways pages from scanners or phone scanning apps.
- Rotate only selected pages in a mixed portrait-and-landscape document.
- Prepare a PDF for reading, printing or sharing without rotating every page.
- Fix page orientation before merging, extracting or archiving a document.
A Safe Rotation Workflow for Mixed Documents
- Open the PDF and identify pages that are sideways or upside down rather than out of sequence.
- Choose 90°, 180° or 270° and limit the change to the affected page range.
- Create the rotated PDF and inspect the first and last changed pages plus an unchanged neighbour.
- If printing matters, check the printer preview separately because printer orientation settings can still alter output.
90°, 180° and 270° Rotation Explained
- Choose 90° clockwise, 180° or 270° depending on the current orientation.
- Apply the change to all pages, odd/even pages or a page range when only part of the document needs correction.
- Preview the intended page numbers carefully because PDF page numbering in a viewer can differ from printed labels inside the document.
Rotation Metadata Versus Rebuilding a Page
Rotation is a page-level PDF operation; it does not need to rasterize ordinary page content. Text and vector elements can therefore remain as PDF content rather than being converted into images. The visible result still depends on how the source PDF encodes page boxes and existing rotation.
Browser Limits for Long PDFs
The tool uses browser-side PDF processing and enforces technical file/page limits to reduce memory failures. Encrypted or malformed PDFs may not load. Very large documents are more reliable on a desktop with enough free memory.
Keeping PDF Content Local During Rotation
Page rotation is applied locally to the PDF rather than sending the document to a remote conversion service. For confidential records, still review the downloaded copy and follow the handling rules required by your organisation.
Why a Page Can Still Look Wrong After Rotating
- If a page still looks wrong, it may already contain an internal rotation; try another angle based on the visible result.
- If page ranges are rejected, use page numbers that exist in the loaded document and avoid overlapping invalid syntax.
- If a password-protected PDF cannot load, unlock it with authorization before rotating.
- If the file is extremely large, process a smaller split section first.
Rotation Is Different from Reordering
Rotation changes how a page is displayed; it does not move that page to another position. If a scanner produced page 4 before page 3, use Reorder PDF Pages.
If the page is in the right location but appears sideways, Rotate PDF Pages is the correct operation. Keeping those tasks separate avoids unnecessary rebuilding and makes it easier to verify that only the intended property changed.
Mixed Portrait and Landscape Documents
Reports, contracts and technical documents often contain mostly portrait pages with a few landscape tables or plans. A blanket rotation of every page can make the document worse.
Use page ranges or selected pages so landscape material can remain intentional while accidental scanner orientation is corrected. After rotation, inspect at least the pages immediately before and after the changed range to make sure the sequence still reads naturally.
What PDF Rotation Actually Changes
A PDF page can have a rotation value in addition to its MediaBox and CropBox geometry. Many rotation tools update that page-level orientation rather than rasterizing the content into a new image.
This is desirable because selectable text and vector artwork can remain intact. Unusual source PDFs can combine existing rotation, transformed content and non-standard page boxes, so the visible result should still be checked in a mainstream PDF reader.
Print Orientation Is a Separate Decision
A PDF page that displays correctly can still be printed with unexpected printer settings. Page rotation controls the document, while printer dialogs may independently choose portrait, landscape, auto-rotate or fit-to-page behaviour.
If the final goal is printing, verify both the PDF orientation and the printer preview. This matters especially for mixed A4/Letter documents and files that contain landscape charts.
Use Rotation Only for Orientation Problems
Choose rotation when the page is in the correct position but displayed sideways or upside down. If the page order is wrong, use Reorder PDF Pages instead. If the visible content is correct but the paper size is wrong, use a page-size tool. Separating these tasks keeps changes predictable. For a mixed document, rotate only the affected pages rather than applying one angle to the entire file. A clean final check should include the first rotated page, the last rotated page and at least one unchanged neighbouring page.
- Identify whether the problem is orientation or sequence.
- Choose the smallest rotation that makes the page upright.
- Use page ranges for mixed-orientation documents.
- Check landscape tables separately from accidental sideways scans.
- Open the output in a mainstream PDF reader.
- Verify printer orientation if the PDF will be printed.
PDF Rotation FAQ
Does rotation change the text quality?
The operation is intended to change page orientation without intentionally rasterizing ordinary page content.
Can I rotate only one page?
Yes. Select that page number or range if the interface offers page selection.
Will page order change?
No. Rotation changes orientation, not sequence.
Is the original PDF overwritten?
No. A new PDF is downloaded.
