Privacy Policy

This policy explains how SonoFiles handles information when you use the website and its file tools. It is written to distinguish the contents of files you choose for a tool from ordinary website data such as network requests, browser information and cookies.

File-processing principle: when a tool states that processing is local or browser-based, the selected file is processed on your device and is not intentionally uploaded to a SonoFiles conversion server for that operation. Always read the individual tool page because technical requirements can differ by format.

Files you select

Local tools may read file bytes in browser memory, create temporary previews or Blob URLs, and generate an output file for download. These temporary objects are part of the browser session. Closing or refreshing a page normally clears browser-memory state, although the browser and operating system control their own caches and download history.

SonoFiles does not ask users to create an account simply to use ordinary file tools. Do not submit confidential material through a contact email as a substitute for the tool workflow.

Cloud-assisted translation

The Translate PDF tool uses a different processing path from fully local tools. The original PDF file remains in your browser, but selectable text extracted from the PDF is sent over HTTPS to a SonoFiles Cloudflare Worker and processed by Cloudflare Workers AI for translation. The translated text is returned to your browser, where SonoFiles builds the downloadable translated PDF. Do not use this workflow for material that must remain entirely on-device.

The translation endpoint is designed to accept text needed for the requested translation rather than the complete source PDF. Cloudflare may process network and inference data as part of providing its infrastructure and AI service. SonoFiles does not require an account for this workflow and does not intentionally store translated document text in an application database.

Cloud-assisted image OCR

The Image to Text and Screenshot to Text tools use Cloudflare Workers AI when Auto multilingual OCR is selected. An optimized copy of the selected image is sent over HTTPS to a SonoFiles Cloudflare Worker and processed by a multilingual vision model for text recognition. If you instead choose a specific OCR language, recognition runs in the browser using the local OCR path. Do not use Auto multilingual OCR for images that must remain entirely on-device.

SonoFiles does not intentionally store OCR source images or recognized text in an application database. Cloudflare may process network and inference data as part of providing its infrastructure and AI service.

Website information

Like most websites, delivery infrastructure can receive technical information needed to serve a page, such as IP address, requested URL, timestamp, browser/user-agent information and security-related request data. Hosting or security providers may process this information as part of delivering and protecting the site.

Cookies, advertising and local browser storage

SonoFiles may use browser storage that is necessary for interface preferences or site operation. SonoFiles may also use Google AdSense and related Google advertising services when advertising is enabled. Google and other third-party vendors may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads and, where permitted, to personalize advertising based on a user's visits to this and other websites. Users can manage ad personalization through and can also use their browser controls to block or delete cookies. Where applicable law requires consent, SonoFiles will present an appropriate consent choice before non-essential advertising technologies are used. See the for more information.

Third-party code and network requests

Some file operations depend on browser libraries. Loading a library from an external host can create a network request to that provider even when the document itself remains local. A network request for code is not the same as uploading the selected document, but it is still relevant to privacy. SonoFiles aims to keep these distinctions clear.

Contact information

If you email us, we receive the address you use and the information you include in the message. We use that information to respond, investigate a report or handle the purpose for which you contacted us. Avoid attaching sensitive files unless explicitly requested through an appropriate support process.

How information may be used

Retention

Browser-local file content is not intentionally retained by a SonoFiles conversion server because it is not sent there for that operation. Other records, such as support emails or infrastructure logs, can have different retention periods based on operational, security and legal needs. We aim not to keep personal information longer than reasonably necessary for its purpose.

International users

SonoFiles is available to users in multiple regions, including the United States, United Kingdom and Europe. Privacy rights and legal bases can differ by jurisdiction. Where applicable law provides rights concerning personal information, you may contact us to ask about access, correction, deletion, restriction or other available rights. Verification may be required before acting on a request.

Children

SonoFiles is a general-purpose file utility service and is not designed to collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal information through a support channel, they can contact us for review.

Security

No website or browser environment can promise absolute security. Local processing can reduce unnecessary transfer of file contents, but users remain responsible for device security, browser extensions, downloaded files and choosing an appropriate environment for sensitive work.

Policy changes

This policy may be updated when the service, providers or legal requirements change. Material changes should be reflected on this page rather than silently relying on outdated wording.
