PDF pages use the presentation aspect ratio instead of forcing A4 or Letter onto slides.
PowerPoint to PDF Online
Create a PDF from a PPTX presentation without sending the deck to an office-conversion server. SonoFiles parses common slide content in the browser, renders each slide, and reports when advanced PowerPoint objects may not reproduce exactly.

Advanced objects are counted and reported instead of being silently described as perfect.
PPTX parts are parsed in-browser; the deck is not intentionally uploaded for server conversion.
PowerPoint Is a Drawing Format, Not Just a List of Pictures
A PPTX package can contain text boxes, theme fonts, master slides, vector shapes, charts, SmartArt, videos, equations, grouped objects, animations and linked media. Native PowerPoint uses a large rendering engine to combine all of those pieces. A small browser tool cannot truthfully claim identical output for every deck. SonoFiles therefore targets a useful subset—common text, pictures, basic shapes and simple tables—and makes the limitation part of the product rather than hiding it.
What the Browser Renderer Reads from PPTX
The converter opens the Office Open XML package locally, follows the presentation’s slide order, reads the slide dimensions, and resolves relationships to embedded pictures. Text boxes are placed using their slide coordinates, common solid fills are drawn, images are positioned into their picture frames, and simple tables are rebuilt as a grid. Each rendered slide becomes one PDF page with the same aspect ratio as the presentation.
Standard, Widescreen and Custom Slide Sizes
Presentations are not office-paper documents. A 16:9 widescreen deck should remain a 16:9 PDF page; a traditional 4:3 presentation should not be stretched to A4; and a custom slide canvas may intentionally use another ratio. That is why this tool follows the slide-size values stored in the PPTX rather than asking whether the user is in the US, UK or Europe. Paper size only becomes relevant later if somebody chooses to print the slide PDF.
Advanced Objects That Need Extra Attention
- Charts and SmartArt: their full Office rendering rules are not reproduced by the lightweight slide renderer.
- Animations and transitions: PDF is static, so motion is not carried over.
- Video and audio: media playback is not embedded in the generated PDF.
- OLE/embedded files: spreadsheets and other embedded objects are not executed or converted.
- Special effects: some gradients, shadows, 3D effects, masks and theme inheritance may differ.
- Fonts: a browser substitute can change wrapping when the original presentation font is unavailable.
Why the PDF Uses Rendered Slide Images
Once the browser has produced the best available visual slide, SonoFiles places that rendered slide into the PDF as an image. This prevents the PDF generator from reflowing text a second time. It also means the resulting slide text is not a newly searchable PDF text layer. The trade-off favours visual consistency with the preview. For accessible tagged PDFs or selectable presentation text, use PowerPoint’s own PDF exporter where possible.
Good Uses for Browser PPTX-to-PDF
The tool is useful for straightforward teaching decks, meeting slides, image-and-text presentations, quick review copies and situations where installing office software is inconvenient. It is also useful as a privacy-conscious fallback when the deck contains ordinary slide objects and you prefer not to upload it to a remote office-conversion service.
When to Use PowerPoint’s Native Export Instead
Use the original application when precise corporate branding, chart fidelity, embedded fonts, accessibility, speaker-note output or publication-quality rendering is essential. That is especially important for investor decks, legal exhibits, design portfolios and presentations where a SmartArt diagram or chart carries material information. A browser warning about an unsupported object is a reason to verify, not a reason to assume the missing object is unimportant.
Privacy, Fonts and External Assets
The PPTX package is read locally. Embedded pictures are decoded in the browser. The converter does not intentionally send the presentation to a SonoFiles conversion server. If a deck references online content rather than embedding it, that external item is outside the reliable local conversion path. Likewise, fonts not available on the current device can be substituted by the browser, affecting line breaks and text size.
PowerPoint to PDF FAQ
Can I convert old .ppt files?
No. This tool accepts modern PPTX packages. Save a legacy PPT as PPTX in PowerPoint, LibreOffice or another trusted office application first.
Will animations play in the PDF?
No. PDF pages are static.
Why is a chart missing or simplified?
Charts and SmartArt depend on Office-specific rendering that the current browser renderer does not fully reproduce. The converter reports advanced objects when detected.
Does the tool force slides onto A4 or US Letter?
No. It preserves the presentation slide ratio, which is the correct default for slide documents across regions.
Is the text selectable in the output PDF?
The current output is visual slide imagery, so it is not a new searchable text layer.
